Tyla reveals her 'essential' bag contents (and yes, Tabasco is one of them)

While gearing up for the release of her upcoming sophomore album, “A*Pop”, Tyla has been keeping fans entertained online with behind-the-scenes moments, album signing sessions and now, a chaotic but very relatable “what’s in my bag” video.
The “Chanel” hitmaker, who has been active on social media following recent online drama involving Rihanna, has been showing fans snippets of her everyday life while promoting the upcoming project, which will be available on July 24 as a signed CD, black vinyl and signed royalty gold vinyl.
In between signing copies of the album, Tyla decided to give her TikTok followers a closer look at the random collection of things she carries around daily.
“I’m gonna do a ‘what’s in my bag’, half of these things I don’t know, so I’m gonna find out with you guys,” she said at the start of the video while pulling out a power bank.
Ironically, despite carrying around a power bank, the singer admitted her phone battery is constantly dying. In true Tyla fashion, her phone even started glitching during the recording because it was running low on battery.
One of the first unexpected items she revealed was a stack of glitter she ordered from Amazon. Honestly, it tracks. If there’s one thing Tyla is going to do, it’s sparkle.
And then came the hot sauce. Yes, Beyoncé may have hot sauce in her bag, but Tyla clearly took notes.
“Obviously, my Tygers know I always have to have Tobasco with everything,” she said, proudly pulling it out of her bag.
Given how often she travels, it also made sense when she pulled out a universal charger. One day she’s in New York, the next she’s back in South Africa. Keeping up with Tyla’s schedule is almost impossible at this point.
Fans were probably less surprised to see her beloved iPhone 5 make another appearance, though. The singer has become known for taking grainy pictures with the old phone despite constantly being dragged online for the blurry quality.
“iPhone 5. Pictures. My fans come for me because the pictures are blurry, but oh well,” she said.
The contents of the bag became more chaotic from there, with Tyla pulling out sanitary pads, mouthwash, lip stains, a lip gloss wrapped in tissue because she lost the lid, cuticle oil and even a BlackBerry phone she also uses for pictures.
Somewhere between the deodorant wipes, deodorant spray, extra belly rings and a completely used-up contour stick, fans got a reminder that, despite the superstardom, Tyla is still very much just a girl.
And, of course, tucked among all the random essentials was her South African ID card and wallet. When she’s not scrambling through her bag or signing CD copies, Tyla is booked and busy.
The Grammy-winning singer is also preparing for two major performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremonies. For the first time in the tournament’s history, the opening celebrations will take place across all three host nations.
Tyla is set to perform in Mexico City on June 11, ahead of the opening match between Mexico and South Africa at the iconic Estadio Azteca, alongside legendary Mexican group Los Ángeles Azules and rock band Maná.
She will then head to Los Angeles on June 12 for another opening celebration performance alongside stars including Katy Perry and Rema.
