Berita officially reintroduces herself with the soulful new single ‘Namhlanje’

South African singer Berita is stepping into a new chapter with the release of her upcoming single “Namhlanje”, set to drop on Friday, March 20. 

Taking to social media, the musician reintroduced herself to fans in a message that reflected both personal growth and artistic renewal.

“Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Gugulethu Khumalo, but you know me as Berita. I play guitar, sing and write songs. I love music. I am also just a girl who loves fashion and is a hopeless romantic,” she wrote.

She added that her new music reflects the woman she has become. “I want to give you music that feels like a breath of fresh air. It is soulful, romantic and a reflection of the woman that I have become. My new single Namhlanje drops Friday, 20 March.”

The new release follows her recent single “Gugulethu”, which she released last year.

The track marked another step in a series of releases and collaborations that have shaped her work since her fourth studio album.

Berita’s most recent full album is “Songs in the Key of Love”, released in 2020. The project produced songs such as “Jikizinto”, which reached number one on the Radio Monitor charts, and “Siyathandana”, a collaboration with Amanda Black.

Her earlier albums include “Berita”,“Songs of Empowerment”  and “Conquering Spirit”, the debut album that earned her a Metro FM Music Award.

Beyond new music, Berita is also preparing for the return of her live concert series “Echoes of the Soul”.

The show has been rescheduled to May 1 at The Market Theatre in Johannesburg after initially being planned for March.

The singer has also spoken openly about reclaiming her power after her public divorce from music executive Nota Baloyi in 2022. Through songs such as “Gugulethu”, she has shared her journey of healing and rediscovering her identity.
