Mduduzi Ncube pours his heart into his Afro-soul album ‘Buyel’ekhaya’

Award-winning Afro-soul artist Mduduzi Ncube is inviting listeners to experience his journey through his latest album, “Buyel’ekhaya”.
The 14-track project, whose title translates to “return home”, reflects Ncube’s desire to reconnect with his roots while speaking to the emotions and experiences that shape us all. “‘Buyel’ekhay’a means returning to where you belong,” he explained.
“It’s about revisiting the sounds and stories that formed me, and sharing them in a way that resonates today.”
The album’s lead single, “Imizwa Nje”, has already captured attention for its direct and heartfelt delivery.
“That song came from a place of honesty,” Ncube said.
“It’s about navigating emotions we often keep to ourselves. I wanted listeners to feel that they’re not alone in their experiences.” Across the album, Ncube’s voice moves seamlessly from reflective ballads to more rhythm-driven tracks, showing both range and emotional depth.
“Buyel’ekhaya” is a musical exploration of love, loss, healing and heritage.
“Each song tells part of a story,” he said. “Some are about heartbreak, others about hope. I wanted the album to feel like a journey you can take with me.”
Tracks like “Ithemba”, “Phakathi Othandweni” and “Ngeke Ngimyeke" highlight his ability to blend personal storytelling with melodies that linger long after the music ends. Collaborations with fellow artists add further layers to the project.
“Working with others who understand the journey makes the music richer,” Ncube noted.
Reflecting on the process, he added, “This album is a homecoming in every sense. It’s a chance to return to my sound while connecting with the experiences of those listening. Music has the power to heal and unite, and I hope ‘Buyel’ekhaya’ does just that.”
Ncube first gained attention with his debut studio album, “Istimela”, released in 2020.
He has since released a series of singles and collaborations, including “Malokazi” featuring Berita, “Falling”, “Isiginci" featuring Big Zulu and “Langa Linye” featuring Zakwe and Zamo Cofi.
Later releases include “My Baby Yo" featuring Lwah Ndlunkulu, “Angsakhoni” and "Njalo” featuring Mafikizolo. With “Buyel’ekhaya”, Ncube adds another chapter to his evolving musical story, offering listeners an intimate and authentic experience that speaks to the heart.
