The Community Chest of the Western Cape has been working tirelessly over the past few weeks to provide urgent, lifesaving relief to families and communities affected by the severe storms across the province.

Thanks to generous support from its network, donors, and corporate partnersCommunity Chest WC has been able to respond quickly to communities in need. Teams have conducted site visits in severely affected areas, including Khayelitsha and Masiphumelele in Noordhoek, where assessments and support efforts are ongoing.

Emergency aid—such as food packs, blankets, hygiene packs, and kitchen essentials have already been distributed to vulnerable communities in locations including Macassar, Suurbraak, Knysna, Clanwilliam, Ladismith, Calitzdorp, Zoar, Van Wyksdorp, and Tulbagh.

To date, the Community Chest WC has distributed the following essential items:

  • 1,000 food boxes, with each box supporting a family of four for a week.
  • Hygiene and kitchen packs, each supporting a family of four.
  • 500 blankets.
  • Over 54,000 litres of drinking water.

"Community Chest WC remains committed to helping and protecting our communities, especially with the cold winter fast approaching," said Peter Heeger, CEO of Community Chest WC.

The organisation expressed gratitude for the continued support from its broader networks, noting that their generosity is bringing vital relief.
