Severe weather forces cancellation of the Wings Over Winelands Airshow

Organisers have confirmed the official cancellation of the highly anticipated Wings Over Winelands Airshow, which was scheduled to take place this Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the iconic Vergelegen Wine Estate.

The decision was made on Tuesday May 12, 2026, following a careful assessment of the venue and surrounding areas after severe weather conditions, including a Category 8 weather warning, resulted in significant damage to the Vergelegen Wine Estate.

The organisers stated that after reviewing the damage, they have prioritised the safety of pilots, participants, staff, and spectators, making the cancellation necessaryIn addition, a participating aircraft, including acts like the Marksman Aerobatic Display Team and the Aero L-29 Delfín jet display, were due to be ferried from Gauteng to the Western Cape, but these movements have been stood down due to the current conditions and venue damage.
