Robbie Malinga has been honoured.

The late star’s wife celebrated her husband, with family and friends present, this past Monday by releasing a self-titled book in his honour.

The intimate gathering was held at the Universal Music offices in Rosebank. Malinga’s wife, Ann Malinga, was quoted in the Sunday Independent saying that the entire process has been an emotional rollercoaster but rewarding.

“Trying to decide on how to honour someone like Robbie has been so difficult for me because you want to do it right. I think in the past month, especially, it has just been so emotionally draining. I remember when I started planning, at first I thought I won’t be able to pull it off, but then went back, talked myself into realising that this is within my scope of expertise and I am sure of, especially since it is not anchored on music,” she said, admitting that she knows little about the music industry.

“Now that we are here, I am really excited and humbled, but also this coupled with mixed emotions,” she said.

The coffee style book, edited by renowned journalist Lesley Mofokeng, is presented in three parts – the first present as Robbie telling his own life story from birth up until the devastating point of the cancer that claimed his life on Christmas Day in 2017.

In the second part, Ann gets candid about widowhood and the challenges it had presented to her as a young woman, while the third features tributes that start with the intensely personal and emotional love letter Robbie Junior penned to his sister Zanokuhle, who was just two years old when their father died.
