The Racket + Ball Padel Club will host two high-energy tournaments this month as Cape Town’s fast-growing padel community gathers for a pair of competitive events that promise thrilling action on court.
First up is the SAPA Daytona Open, scheduled to run from March 13–15. The tournament forms part of the South African Padel Association (SAPA) circuit and carries Super Gold status — one of the highest tiers in South Africa’s amateur padel competition.
As a Super Gold event, the Daytona Open is expected to attract some of the country’s leading amateur and semi-professional players. Competitors will battle it out in doubles teams across several skill divisions for ranking points, prize incentives and bragging rights within the national padel scene.
The event will take place on the club’s indoor Mondo padel courts, a professional-grade surface commonly used in international tournaments.
Padel4Good in Partnership with Racket + Ball Club returns with its first Elite men’s tournament
Two weeks later, the venue will again be in the spotlight when Padel4Good hosts its first Elite Men’s event of the year on March 28.
The tournament will feature players rated between 3.5 and 7 on the Playtomic app, the global booking and ranking platform widely used by padel clubs and players to track competitive levels.
Padel4Good already launched its 2026 calendar last month with a Mixed Tournament for players rated between 2 and 5, which produced an entertaining final.
Shaun Fraser and Michelle Collins claimed the title after defeating Michelle van Staden and Ryan Stein, setting the tone for what organisers hope will be another exciting year of competition.
Growing calendar of events
Organisers have already outlined a packed schedule for the remainder of the year as the brand continues to grow its presence in Cape Town’s competitive padel scene:
- March — Men’s Elite Event
- May — Women’s Event
- June — Men’s Event
- July — Mixed Event
The upcoming Elite Men’s tournament is already sold out, with all 32 player slots filled by a mix of Cape Town’s established competitors and emerging talent.
Padel boom continues in South Africa
Padel has experienced a dramatic rise in popularity across South Africa over the past few years, with new courts opening rapidly in major cities such as Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Tournaments such as the SAPA Daytona Open and the Padel4Good series are helping to develop the country’s competitive structure while giving local players regular opportunities to test themselves in organised events.
Both tournaments will be open to the public, offering fans and newcomers the chance to watch some of the region’s most talented players compete.
