However, matches of this nature are rarely straightforward, particularly against a disciplined side likely to sit deep and look to strike on the counter. The Old Peter Mokaba Stadium is not an easy venue to navigate, as Pirates discovered in their narrow 2-1 win there earlier this season. Sundowns will be aware that even a single slip-up at this stage could prove costly in the race for the title.

Stellenbosch FC (H)

Stellenbosch FC have been on an upward trajectory under Gavin Hunt and are edging closer to a top-eight finish. This clash represents one of the toughest tests of his tenure so far. While Stellies have historically proven tricky opponents, recent meetings favour the Brazilians, who have won their last five league encounters. Their strong home form will also provide confidence, having gone unbeaten in five matches since their 1-1 draw with Pirates earlier in the season.
