Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has urged calm and composure after Amakhosi’s difficult run continued with a narrow defeat to Richards Bay FC on Tuesday night.

Amakhosi went down 1-0 to the Natal Rich Boyz in a Betway Premiership encounter at the uMhlathuze Sports Complex, a result that further deepened the Soweto giants’ struggles during a demanding spell of the season.

The loss marked a fourth defeat in all competitions for Chiefs, following previous setbacks against Orlando Pirates, Stellenbosch FC and Zamalek SC. It has intensified scrutiny on the technical team as Chiefs battle to steady their campaign.

Speaking after the match, Kaze admitted the current moment is testing but insisted panic would only worsen the situation.

“This is a difficult time for us and sometimes teams go through things like this but it’s important that we stay calm and find solutions because if we start panicking then things might get bad,” he told the media. “We need to stay calm, we need to keep our heads and try to find solutions.”

Chiefs’ preparation were disrupted even before kick-off, with vice-captain Inacio Miguel withdrawing during the warm-up.

The late change, combined with the suspension of defender Zitha Kwinika, forced a reshuffle at the back that proved costly.

“I believe we were not good enough offensively and defensively as well,” Kaze conceded.

“To lose Miguel in the warm-up and Zitha to suspension and having to change the defence wasn’t ideal and I think that cost us the game.”

Chiefs struggled to impose themselves at both ends of the pitch, lacking sharpness in attack and cohesion in defence as Richards Bay capitalised on their organisation and discipline.

With pressure mounting and confidence fragile, Kaze stressed that the focus must remain on solutions rather than blame, as Amakhosi look to arrest their slide and rediscover stability in the weeks ahead.
