The team behind the multi-award-winning Chasing the Sun franchise will launch Greens & Gold, the story of South Africa’s LIV Golf team, Stinger GC.
Former Springbok Bryan Habana, an ambassador for Stinger GC, has been promoting the upcoming documentary series, which will go live on 14 December 2025. His promotion also includes a related golf challenge.
“LIV Golf has come in and positively disrupted the game of golf, speaking to new audiences, creating new interactions and activations, and doing things differently than we are used to in golf,” said Habana.
“The fun, the enjoyment, and the banter that captain Louis Oosthuizen, as well as Charl Schwartzel, Dean Burmester, and Branden Grace bring to the game is absolutely brilliant. They are putting South Africa on the map.”
Habana added that LIV Golf coming to South Africa in 2026 is a phenomenal opportunity to showcase everything good about the country. “South Africa can showcase itself not only as a sporting nation but also as an events-hosting nation — how incredibly great we really are. We’ve just seen the G20 Summit; the 1995 Rugby World Cup; the Africa Cup of Nations; the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup — there have been so many phenomenal sporting events and moments in South Africa’s history, and I think that LIV Golf coming to South Africa is going to be one of those absolutely brilliant moments.”
Having just returned from Europe, Habana watched the Springboks’ matches against France at Stade de France and against Ireland in Ireland.
“This Springbok team is just the best that we have ever seen. I think the way coach Rassie Erasmus has moulded the team into a dominant force in world rugby is phenomenal. He thinks differently about the way things get done," he said.
"The Boks showed enormous resilience, evidenced by two yellow cards and a red card in the first couple of weekends. The way they dismantled the Irish pack from a scrum perspective was superb.”
“Being a Springbok supporter at this point and seeing how well this team is doing and the trajectory they are on is incredible. The mix of youth and experience that Rassie has assembled is remarkable.
"Hopefully, we will end the year as the number one team in the world, which means that the World Cup 2027 pool draw on 3 December 2025 will put us in a prime spot. But hearing the chats behind the scenes, Rassie has also used this year to set the standard where he can allow himself a little bit of flexibility going into 2026 and maybe start expanding or doing things a bit differently again. How proud are we to be a Springbok supporter right now!”
While promoting Greens & Gold, Habana is also spearheading a related golf challenge.
“At this time of year, Mzansi is ready to put on the out-of-office, light the braai, and dial up the Dezemba vibes. Greens & Gold drops at the perfect time to offer us entertaining viewing for the festive period and in the build-up to South Africa’s first-ever staging of a LIV Golf tournament in the first quarter of 2026.”
In the challenge, golf enthusiasts need to chip a golf ball into a braai. Winning video clips will stand a chance to win a pair of tickets to the official watch party at Steyn City on December 7. They will also be in line to win a spot in a four-ball at the Stinger GC Golf Day at Pinnacle Point in Mosselbay on December 16.
