Arthur Jantjies won the men’s 56km race at the Two Oceans Marathon in Cape Town on Sunday.
Breaking away in the final few kilometres of the contest, the relatively unknown Jantjies pulled off a big upset over the much-fancied former champion Onalenna Khonkhobe, who claimed second place.
The pair had stuck together as they neared the finish, until Jantjies pulled off his final burst at the climax to clinch the title.
Completing the podium was Blessing Waison.
