Steyn, Ntini boost SA's total

A tenth wicket partnership of 58 runs between Dale Steyn and Makhaya Ntini assisted South Africa score 343 all out soon after lunch on the second day of the second Castle test against England at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead on Sunday.

The pair came together after the demise of Morne Morkel (23) with the score on 285/9 and took on the tiring England bowlers.

Steyn slayed the England bowlers as he scored 47 off 58 balls with three sixes and three fours in 65 minutes while Ntini, who has been under pressure to keep his place in the side after a run of poor returns, made five in the 10th wicket stand.

The partnership was finally broken by James Anderson who had Steyn caught behind by Prior to close the South African innings.

Earlier South Africa, resuming at 175/5 were pushed along to their somewhat big total after AB de Villiers (50) and Mark Boucher (39) added 63 for the sixth wicket to steady the innings after the opening afternoon's mini-collapse which saw the home side slumped to 170/5 after Graeme Smith (75) and Jacques Kallis (75) had laid the foundation.

Graeme Swann, Man of the Match in the firs Test at SuperSport Park, was the pick of the England bowlers with 4/110 off 35 overs while James Anderson (2/75) and Stuart Broad (2/44) were not too far behind.
