Proteas take time out from cricket

The Proteas squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in England will spend two days bonding and strategising at Phinda game reserve north of Durban.

Initially, there were plans for the squad to practise in Durban but coach Mickey Arthur felt that most of his squad had played more than enough cricket during the recently completed Indian Premier League tournament. The squad met up in Durban on Tuesday night and left for the game reserve early on Wednesday.

The 14-man squad will depart from Johannesburg on Friday evening. The South Africans are in Group D along with Scotland and New Zealand. Their first match will be against Scotland at The Oval on Sunday, June 7. The event will run from June 5-21.
