Kaizer Chiefs will parade their new-look side when they face European champions Manchester United in the opening match of the Vodacom Challenge at Newlands in Cape Town on July 19.

Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral, who has been beefing up his squad for the new domestic season, admits that he could not have asked for a better way to prepare during the pre-season and blood new players than against one of the greatest clubs in world football.

"It is a huge honour getting a chance to play against a massive team like Manchester United. Our whole club is buzzing with anticipation," he said on Wednesday.

"We have a number of new players we signed during the off-season, and I intend giving them a chance to show their qualities against a side that won both the highly competitive English Premier League and the European Champions League, the biggest club prize of all."

In a bid to bolster their defence, Chiefs have signed Burundi captain Valery Nahayo from relegated Jomo Cosmos and Gordon Gilbert and Thabang Rooi from First Division club Mpumalanga Black Aces. - Sapa
