Bulls face-to-face with Pollock again

Brenden Nel|Published

The Bulls will again come face to face with referee Chris Pollock when they start the overseas leg of the Super 14 next week.

Pollock controversially yellow-carded Anton Leonard on the advice of touch judge Marius Jonker at a crucial stage of last weekend's losing match against the Western Force. He was subsequently widely blamed by other referees for being at fault in controversy that arose fromfor his handling of the incident.

Now Pollock will be a touch judge himself when the Bulls kick off their tour against the Brumbies in Canberra - with Lyndon Bray blowing the game.

Pollock doesn't take charge of a game for the next four weeks and it is unclear whether his refereeing lapse caused this, or whether it was planned beforehand.

The Bulls have a mixed bag of referees for their crucial five-week tour, including two dates at the end in New Zealand with Australian Stuart Dickinson, who with 54 Super 14 matches is the most experienced and one of the most controversial referees in the competition.

Kelvin Deacker takes charge of their game against the Waratahs, while Dickinson will be in charge of their matches against the Crusaders and Highlanders. The refereeing announcement for their last game against the Hurricanes has not been made.

Jonker will take charge of the Highlanders-Reds clash in round six and the Blues-Waratahs clash in round eight of the competition while JC Fortuin has been given the pressure Sharks-Cheetahs match in Durban. Mark Lawrence will do the Force-Hurricanes game in Perth and Jonathan Kaplan the Reds-Chiefs game in Brisbane.
