'Luke The Crook' vows to 'give it horns'

Luke Watson has warned the whinging Blue Bulls that there's more of his impressive play at the breakdown to come in Saturday's Currie Cup semifinal at Loftus in Pretoria.

Bulls coach Pote Human on Thursday labelled Watson a cheat, saying he was "getting away with murder at breakdown points", and vowed to take up the issue with referee Marius Jonker before the match.

Watson has been an inspirational figure in both his side's victories over the Bulls to date this season and his ability to turn over and slow opposition ball are among his strengths.

And "Luke The Crook" vowed on Thursday to give it horns at Loftus. "I've had relative success at the breakdowns this year and haven't been penalised too much because I try to stay within the laws," said Watson.

"We'll see how Marius blows... We are definitely going to attack the ball at breakdown, try to stay within the laws and not give the referee the opportunity to misinterpret it."

The Bulls' attack on Watson came shortly after WP coach Kobus van der Merwe raised concerns about potential dirty play with Jonker. Watson will no doubt be a central figure if WP manage an upset victory. Van der Merwe on Thursday repeated calls for his inspirational captain to be called up to the Springbok squad for the end-of-season tour to England and Ireland.

"He has been consistent since the Super 14 and has had a fantastic Currie Cup. I hope he's there at the end of the year when the touring party is announced," he said.
