Breyton's back to play for Stormers

Breyton Paulse will play for the Stormers next year.

The Springbok wing on Thursday agreed terms with Western Province for a short-term deal ahead of the 2007 World Cup.

"Breyton will be with us until the end of the Super 14," said WP Rugby managing director Rob Wagner.

"He's still an international and we've seen that he adds a lot of value. He has proved that he's not a spent force. I believe his experience will be invaluable."

The prospect of Paulse and new fullback sensation Gio Aplon working together from the back will certainly have Stormers fans excited about the new season.

The 2005 and 2006 campaigns were both unhappy ones, but with a commitment to a positive brand of rugby and exciting young talent coming through the ranks, there should be an improvement next year.

Paulse showed just how much rugby there still is in him last Saturday when he scored the try that put the Springboks beyond Australia's reach in their 24-16 Tri-Nations win.

Province recently also invested in Selborne Boome to ensure that they have an experienced spine in a predominantly youthful squad next year.

Boome will start WP's match against the Falcons at Newlands on Saturday.

On Thursday, new hooker Tiaan Liebenberg was also introduced to the media. He is also playing this weekend and is another important acquisition ahead of the Super 14.

Wagner said WP were still hoping to add depth at tighthead prop, but it's unlikely that they will be able to persuade Saracens to release Cobus Visagie.
