No light in sight for Cosmos
Nothing is going right for Jomo Cosmos in the Castle Premier League this season.
Cosmos' sorry story after five matches reads: two draws and three defeats. This has left them languishing at the foot of the log table with two points, having conceded a whopping eight goals.
It doesn't get any better for Jomo Sono and his men in this weekend's round of league fixtures as they host Mamelodi Sundowns at the Rand Stadium on Saturday.
The Brazilians are yet to move into top gear, but they remain difficult to beat.
After their 1-1 draw with Arrows in August, Sundowns coach Angel Cappa read the riot act to his players berating them for failing to focus on the job at hand for the duration of the game and similar mistakes may be exploited by a desperate side like Cosmos.
Anyway, despite still having to win a game, Cosmos have scored five goals so far with strikers Christopher Katongo (3 goals) and Anthony Luffa (2) the scorers.
Sundowns have conceded only one goal in three games and the Cosmos attackers will need to be at their best.
Maximum points for Sundowns would put Orlando Pirates, who host Bush Bucks three hours later, under pressure at the top of the log.
Bucks are second from the bottom of the log without a win, but with two draws and one loss compared to Pirates' impressive record of two wins and a draw in three outings.
Pirates came in for heavy criticism after their last game where they played to an uninspiring 3-3 draw with Santos and this is their opportunity to return to winning ways.
In another game on Saturday, Bloemfontein Celtic travel to Black Leopards at Thohoyandou Stadium.
Coach Paul Dolezar remarked on Thursday that he was worried by his team's inability to kill off the opposition and that he hoped they got it right in Limpopo Province with a much needed victory that would push them to nine points from six games.
At Super Stadium in Atteridgeville, SuperSport United will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host unpredictable Silver Stars in a game that has the potential to be exciting when one looks at the carpet type of football both teams play.
On Saturday, Chiefs play Dynamos at Giyani Stadium, Golden Arrows host Santos at Kings Park Soccer Stadium and Free State Stars are at home to Tembisa Classic at Charles Mopeli Stadium.
