The Premier Soccer League will host a tournament in January next year featuring three top European teams and a local invitation side.

League CEO Trevor Phillips announced on Thursday that they were involved in negotiations to bring out teams from Portugal, Germany and either Spain or England to keep South African players busy during the time when the African Cup of Nations will be under way in Egypt.

"Most leagues in Europe will be closed at that time and it will benefit our players to be involved in some kind of soccer activity," he said.

Phillips also spoke about the challenges they were facing in view of the fact that there is going to be a lot of soccer played in a short period because of the Cup of Nations and the World Cup in Germany.

"It is going to be tough for us as far as logistics are concerned and a nightmare for the clubs and players to produce a quality product on the field of play in those trying conditions,"said Phillips on Thursday.

"There is not going to be a spare weekend or even spare time in midweek as we will be working to finish our campaign in time to meet the Fifa deadline.
