Mamelodi Sundowns returned to training on Tuesday in preparation for Saturday's crunch Absa Cup quarterfinal clash against SuperSport United at HM Pitje Stadium lucky to have no new injury worries after last weekend's physical league encounter against Jomo Cosmos.

Playing against a robust Cosmos side, who conceded four yellow and one red card, there were fears that some of the Sundowns players might have suffered injuries ahead of the United match.

Even defender Vuyo Mere and midfielder Siaka Tiene, who were on the receiving end of unsporting tackles from Cosmos players, were also able to train.

This means coach Angel Cappa can welcome fierce rivals United with a full strength squad.

Cappa substituted key midfielders Esrom Nyandoro and Surprise Moriri in the closing stages against Cosmos to save them from possible injuries.

Faced with a tough opposition in a Cup game where there are no second chances, it remains to be seen how Cappa will attack United.

Peter Ndlovu was only introduced late in the second half against Cosmos and his contribution was little like it has been all season long.

For United, coach Pitso Mosimane started his preparations in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Tuesday afternoon.

United only return from the central African republic, where they lost 2-0 to St Eloi Lupopo in the Caf Confederation Cup second round, first leg tie on Monday, sometime on Wednesday.

United official Coltrane Munyai said from Lubumbashi that coach Pitso Mosimane summoned the players for a light training session on Tuesday afternoon where the whole travelling party took part.

United have a good record against Sundowns lately having beaten them twice in their four most recent league meetings under Mosimane. The other two games were drawn.

Sundowns, however, beat United in the last 16 of this competition two seasons ago via a last minute free kick by defender Sashi Chalwe.

- Meanwhile, Cappa confirmed on Tuesday that striker Sandile Ndlovu will be recalled from his loan spell at Dynamos for next season.
