Celtic beat Amazulu, Moholosiane all rosy

Bloemfontein - In the battle of two of the leading contenders for promotion to the Premier Soccer League, Inland Stream First Division club Bloemfontein Celtic edged out their Coastal Stream rivals AmaZulu 2-1 at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium in Sunday's hard-fought Absa Cup first round tie.

The two first divison clubs were level 1-1 at halftime.

Edison Mhinga gave AmaZulu the lead after 10 minutes. Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Tony Illodigwe intercepted a pass from former Celtic defender Jappie Arries and netted in the 39th minute that saw the sides change over at halftime on level terms.

Simon Nomga scored the winner for the home side in the 70th minute.

In other cup matches involving lower league clubs on Sunday:

- Leicester City defeated William Pescod 3-1 at the Matlosane stadium

- Silver Stars defeated their hosts, Winners Park, 2-0 at the Giyani stadium
