South Africa's champion soccer coach Gordon Igesund has quit Santos Football Club to join Cape Town rivals Ajax - but the planned move could be blocked in court.
Santos have already lost the services of general manager Afzal Khan to Durban club Manning Rangers. Khan on Wednesday confirmed that Igesund has resigned his coaching post.
Igesund, who took Santos to Premier League honours last season, still has a year to run on his contract with the club.
A lawyer for Santos said that they were prepared to go to court to ensure that Igesund honoured his contract.
On Wednesday Igesund responded with a "no comment at this stage".
Ajax boss John Comitis said that he was keen to have a coach of the calibre of Igesund on board. "I do not know what arrangement Igesund has with Santos, but if he is available I would welcome him at Ajax."
