Villa's Ginola ready to join Everton on loan

Published

Liverpool, England - Everton have opened talks with Aston Villa about taking French winger David Ginola on loan.

An Everton spokesman said: "We have been working on it but it depends on whether the paperwork can be registered in time."

Ginola has been frozen out at Aston Villa since being sent off against Leicester on December 1 and arguing with the fourth official as he left the pitch.

Preston and Burnley have both attempted to take Ginola on loan but have been unable to strike a deal.

New Villa boss Graham Taylor has sanctioned the move just days after taking over as manager.

Ginola joined Villa from Spurs for £3-million on July 30 2000 and has previously played for Newcastle in the premier league.

Everton are also expected to complete the transfer of Irish international midfielder Lee Carsley from Coventry on Friday. - Reuters
