Trezeguet is major threat, says Wenger
London - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Juventus striker David Trezeguet will be the man to watch in Tuesday's Champions League clash at Highbury.
Trezeguet, the tournament's top scorer with eight goals after scoring twice in last week's 4-0 thrashing of Bayer Leverkusen, was coached through the ranks by Wenger at their former club, Monaco.
Looking ahead to the group D game, Wenger told the Arsenal website on Monday: "I know Trezeguet very well and I think the best way to stop him is to stop the source.
"When he gets in the box he knows exactly where to be and has got a great nose for the goal. If you give him just one yard left or right he will punish you."
Trezeguet, famous for his golden goal winner for France against Italy in the Euro 2000 final, is joint fourth in the Italian league scorers table, with seven Serie A strikes this season.
But his feats have come as little surprise for his fellow Frenchman.
"I have always rated him very highly and believe that he has things that you cannot teach somebody. He is a natural," Wenger said.
Technical Player
"So I feel it is very important to keep Juventus out of the box as much as possible and try to stop the ball getting to him.
"However, they also have Alessandro Del Piero who is a very technical player and very mobile and does everything on the move, so it will not be easy."
Arsenal will be under extra pressure on Tuesday, having become wholly reliant on home wins in their European campaign.
Wenger's side have lost every one of their last six away games in the Champions League - including their second phase opener last month to Deportivo Coruna.
Wenger said: "This is a massive game for us and a real test, but it gives us the opportunity to show just how good we really are.
"We do not fear Juventus and we are looking forward to the game because it gives us the chance to assert ourselves as one of the best teams in Europe." Arsenal are making their fourth consecutive appearance in the competition, and went furthest last season when they reached the quarter-finals. - Reuters
