Stop bothering Pule or pay R30m, Downs told
Kaizer Chiefs manager Bobby Motaung said on Monday Sundowns should stop pestering Jabu Pule by talking to the boy if they were not prepared to pay R30-million.
"We made a breakthrough yesterday and discovered who has been destabilising Pule," said Motaung.
Sundowns spokesperson Alex Shakoane confirmed that they were indeed interested in Pule but dismissed the price put on the boy's head as ridiculous.
He said this was a serious matter and Motaung should stop joking.
"The amount of money they are demanding for Pule is downright ridiculous," said Shakoane. "We are interested of course. And I'm positive that Pule can slot in easily into the pattern and style played by Sundowns.
"However, I don't think that's the kind of amount they could charge even an overseas team. It's unheard of in local football. How can we destabilise the boy when we are genuinely interested in him?
"When Chiefs claimed they had signed Raphael Chukwu, nobody said anything because it was regarded purely as a simple business transaction, nothing more."
Meanwhile, Motaung has expressed concern about the national team coaches, accusing the technical team of frustrating their pre-season preparations by informing them they needed a certain number of players, only to change their mind in the eleventh hour.
"I'm not here to instruct the national selectors who to select," said Motaung. "But for them to send us a letter informing us they needed seven players only to change their minds and in the eleventh hour claim they only need two, is unacceptable.
"They must be professional enough to discuss these things with the coach as it forces him to change his training programme and, in addition, it has a serious psychological effect on the players who are called-up and then informed in the eleventh hour they are not needed," said Motaung.
