Rome - European champions Real Madrid were voted the Fifa team of the 20th century on Monday.
Real won the award with 42.35 percent of the vote, way ahead of Manchester United in second place with 9.69 percent and Bayern Munich with 9.18 percent.
Real's great Spanish rivals Barcelona were fourth with 5.61 percent while Pele's former club Santos were joint fifth with Ajax Amsterdam on 5.10 percent.
Juventus were the top Italian side in the poll, placing seventh with 2.55 percent.
Argentine Alfredo Di Stefano, part of the great Real Madrid sides of the 1950s and 60s, and club president Florentino Perez were at a Fifa gala in Rome to accept the award. - Reuters
