Cape Town - A cyclist and a motorcyclist were killed on Thursday morning after the pair crashed on the M3 in Cape Town.
Police said that the motorcyclist was apparently driving towards Wynberg on the M3 when the cyclist turned to cross the highway, from the middle lane to the other side. The biker swerved to avoid hitting the cyclist but was unable to avoid the collision.
ER24 paramedics rushed to the scene shortly after the crash took place at around 7.25am.
When they arrived they found both men lying on the grass embankment next to the road. The cyclist had already died.
“Nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead on the scene,” said ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring.
The body of the motorcyclist, which was found a few metres away, also showed no signs of life.
Metro EMS paramedics attempts to resuscitate him failed.
