Robber shot in foot during grave shootout

Published

A pistol-packing 29-year-old woman, visiting her mother's graveside, gave would-be-attackers a taste of their own medicine when she turned the tables on them.

Superintendent Eugene Opperman said the woman was seated in her car at Bredell cemetery near Kempton Park, Johannesburg, when two men, one with a firearm, held her up.

What the men didn't know - and what they probably least suspected - was that the woman was herself armed. She took out her firearm and fired a shot at the armed man, injuring his left leg. The accomplice fled on foot.

A .357 magnum revolver with a filed off number was confiscated from the injured gunman.

He was taken to a local hospital and placed under police guard. - Own Correspondent
