Police in the Western Cape are seeking the public’s assistance after skeletal remains were found in Lavender Hill.

Police have managed to draw up a composite sketch of how the person looks.

The provincial police spokesperson, Thembakazi Mpendukana, said the remains were found on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

“Steenberg police received a complaint about skeleton remains that were found at 14th Avenue Rondevlei, Lavender Hill, at around 3pm. According to reports, children were playing with a ball and kicking it over a school fence. It was when they went to fetch it that they found a human skeleton, and the police were immediately alerted,” Mpendukana said.

Once police arrived on the scene, they found the skeleton of what they believe is a man.

“When they arrived at the crime scene, they saw the skeleton with only white and yellow Adidas sneakers, but there was no person with the missing shoe description that was reported missing,” Mpendukana said.

Police also gave an estimate of age of the remains found.

“Provided is an image believed to be of an adult male, estimated to be between 35 and 46 years old, who was found at the above-mentioned location,” Mpendukana said.

Anyone with information that might help with the investigation is kindly requested to contact the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Sampson at 021 702 900/22 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
