A man who was shot on Monday evening not only survived the attack but also drove himself and two others to hospital for urgent medical attention.

Sadly, police confirmed his wounded passengers -  a woman and man, were declared dead upon arrival.

A video of the victim lying inside the bloodied vehicle was shared on social media, with shocked residents crowding around it.

“Lewe hy nog? (Is he still alive?)” one person asks.

Police spokesperson, Ndakhe Gwala, said cases of attempted murder and murder were opened for investigation.

Gwala said one of the male victims had managed to drive to the hospital.

“This office confirms that on Monday at about 8:30am, Philippi police responded to a complaint from a hospital and upon arrival, they were informed about three victims of a shooting,” she said.

“According to reports, the victims sustained gunshot wounds at Johndown, Hanover Park.

"While the third victim managed to drive to the hospital, an adult male and female succumbed to their injuries and were declared dead upon arrival.

"Police registered two counts of murder and an attempted murder case.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation, and no arrest has been made yet,” said Gwala.

The incident comes days after a 30-year-old man was shot and killed in his house in Clarke Estate, Elsies River.

Residents believe the incident to be a “targeted hit”, as the killer stormed into the man’s house on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson, FC van Wyk, said: “Elsies River police registered a murder case following a shooting incident on May 26 at 5:50pm at Martindale Court, Liederman Street, Clarke Estate, Elsies River, in which a 30-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded."
