Former student allegedly assaults Grade 12 learner outside Mitchells Plain school

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has confirmed that a Grade 12 learner at AZ Berman High School in Mitchells Plain was rushed to a medical facility for treatment by his mother after a former student allegedly struck him with a cup.
It is unclear whether the learner sustained any stab wounds as reported via social media.
The department said police have since been contacted to take the necessary action.
It is also unclear whether there was an altercation between the two persons.
WCED spokesperson, Millicent Merton, said: “It has been reported that a former learner allegedly struck a Grade 12 learner with a cup outside the school (Wednesday) morning.The learner ran into the school premises, and his mother was contacted. The learner was taken to a medical facility. The school contacted the South African Police Services and Law Enforcement. Counselling support will be provided to the affected learner and two other learners who witnessed the incident.”
The Cape Argus has reached out to the police for comment and the article will be updated once their response is received.
The incident comes a month after two teenagers, both believed to be from Tafelsig High School - were chased into Tafelberg Road where they were attacked and knifed.
A source at the time, said: “Two boys were stabbed, one was injured close to the eye with scratches, and the other one, I’m not sure about, but I heard it was the arm."
Police spokesperson, FC van Wyk, had confirmed that an assault common case was registered.
