Kraaifontein mass shooting leaves one dead; five-year-old injured

A five-year-old child is lucky to be alive after being shot and wounded in a mass shooting which left one person dead on Wednesday night in Kraaifontein.
The shooting took place in Mfeketho Street, Wallacedene, at around 7.35pm when gunmen opened fire on the victims, fatally wounding a 50-year-old man and leaving three others, between the ages of five and 30 years, wounded before fleeing the scene.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that the matter is under investigation.
“The circumstances surrounding a shooting incident on Wednesday evening, May 20, 2026, at about 7.35pm, in Mfeketho Street, Wallacedene, where a 50-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded, and a 30-year-old male, a 25-year-old female, and a five-year-old child wounded, are under investigation, Twigg said.
“Kraaifontein police were called to the crime scene where they found the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies.
“The 50-year-old victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical, while the other victims were transported to a medical facility in a private vehicle.
“The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation. According to reports, two unknown suspects entered the premises and opened fire on the victims before fleeing the scene.
Murder and attempted murder cases were registered for investigation.”
Meanwhile, a disturbing video has surfaced online showing armed gunmen robbing a spaza shop in Delft, leaving one person dead and another injured on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
“Delft police registered murder and attempted murder and business robbery cases for investigation following a shooting incident on May12, at about 10pm, where a 45-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded and two adult victims wounded.
“The 45-year-old victim sustained gunshot wounds to his body and was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victims were transported to a medical facility for treatment.
“According to reports, unknown suspects entered the shop, opened fire, and robbed the victims of an undisclosed amount of cash, cellular telephones, and a speed point and fled the scene. The motive for the attack is robbery,” Twigg confirmed.
