A 26-year-old man was arrested after Metro Police officers confiscated 2 454 dagga bankies, 208 dagga cigarettes, 800g of unpacked dagga, and 10 medium bags of dagga in Fisantekraal on Monday, May 18, according to Cape Town Metro Police spokesperson Superintendent Ruth Solomons.
Solomons said Metro Police Neighbourhood Safety Officers were on patrol at around midday when they noticed the suspect behaving suspiciously after spotting the marked patrol vehicle.
She said the suspect attempted to flee, but officers apprehended him shortly afterwards.
"He was carrying a black bag and a white bucket, and officers sought permission to conduct a search," said Solomons.
After the search, officers confiscated the quantities of dagga. The suspect was arrested and detained at Durbanville police station for further investigation, Solomons said.
Metro police said 208 dagga cigarettes were confiscated.
