Flight operations have been impacted at Cape Town and George Airports due to adverse weather conditions.
Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) on Monday said the current weather conditions have resulted in flights being delayed, diverted or cancelled.
Despite the inclement weather, both Cape Town International Airport and George remain open and operational, ACSA said.
"ACSA confirms that the current adverse weather conditions in both Cape Town and George have impacted flight operations. Passengers are advised that flights may be delayed, diverted or cancelled as a result.
"Despite the inclement weather, both Cape Town International Airport and George remain open and operational. Airport operations continue to be closely monitored, and alternative airports are accommodating diverted flights where required.
"Passengers are encouraged to consult the ACSA Mobile App or their respective airlines for the latest flight information," said ACSA.
Meanwhile, the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness reported that contingency measures are in place to ensure the continued provision of essential health services despite access challenges in some flooded areas.
Ceres in the Cape Winelands recorded 64mm of rain, while Kirstenbosch in the City of Cape Town recorded 52mm on Monday morning.
The Overberg District Disaster Management Centre also reported nine instances of trucks being blown over on the N2 on Monday.
"We are urging residents to exercise extreme caution over the next two days. Please be aware of your surroundings and avoid crossing streams or rivers. Please also be mindful of trees or any objects that may become dislodged by strong winds,” said Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning MEC, Anton Bredell.
