The son of one of the accused, sentenced to life imprisonment for the Woodstock massacre that occurred nearly 20 years ago, was shot and killed on Monday evening in Bonteheuwel.

Thulkeef “Dullie” , 21, was gunned down in Boxwoof Street, B Block.

According to bystanders, a vehicle pulled up when he was shot on the corner, and he then ran down the road.

As he attempted to flee, he fell and the suspects "finished him off".

According to Cape Argus sister publication, Daily Voice sources, Thulkeef  was allegedly an American gang member who was shot by the Fancy Boys gang.

Bonteheuwel ward councillor, Angus McKenzie, confirmed said the shooting was a retaliatory act.

“What we know at this stage is that an alleged gangster, believed to be affiliated with a local gang operating in the area, was shot and killed by a rival group.

“This attack is understood to be a retaliatory act linked to a previous shooting that took place a few weeks ago, a continuation of a dangerous tit-for-tat cycle of violence.

“It is further alleged that the deceased is the son of a high-ranking gang figure who is currently serving time in prison for similar criminal activities.

“This development raises serious concerns about potential further retaliation and the possible escalation of violence in the area,” McKenzie said.

Sources further revealed that Thulkeef father is Junaid Mitchells, one of seven accused American gangsters facing life imprisonment for the 2007 Woodstock massacre shooting, which saw five people killed execution-style.

It was believed to be an attack carried out in retaliation for the murders of gang leaders Mark “Markie Mokes” Williams and Rasan “Charra” Naidoo in November that year.

It appeared to be aimed at rival American boss Mogamat Madatt.

The Western Cape High Court heard the trial and Judge Andre le Grange said in his judgment that Mitchells was one of the persons who masterminded the planning, acquisition of weapons and the execution of the planned attack, despite the evidence that he was not at the premises during the attack on Madatt’s premises.

Several of Madatt’s taxis were also set alight after the killings.

Le Grange also said that Madatt was suspected of orchestrating the killing of Williams.

Police spokesperson, Thembakazi Mpendukana, said Thulkeef  was declared deceased at the crime scene by medical personnel.

“This office confirms that Bishop Lavis SAPS has registered a case of murder following a shooting incident that occurred in Boxwood Street, Bonteheuwel, on Monday, 7:50pm.

“Police reports state that the members received a complaint and quickly responded to it. Upon their arrival, they found the body of a 21-year-old male victim who had endured a gunshot wound to his head.”
