The City of Cape Town’s urban mobility directorate has launched several essential roadworks projects across key areas, including Mouille Point, District Six, Woodstock, Observatory, and Epping Industrial.

These projects aim to improve the quality and longevity of road surfaces for a safer, more seamless travel experience.

The comprehensive programme kicked off recently, with work scheduled from Mondays to Saturdays, from 7am until 5pm, with occasional night shifts planned to ensure the project meets its target completion date of Tuesday, June 30.

Mayoral committee member for urban mobility Rob Quintas said he was pleased with the swift commencement of the projects.

“By investing in the longevity and quality of our road surfaces today, we are ensuring a safer and more seamless travel experience for thousands of commuters, residents, and businesses.

"These projects are more than just fresh asphalt; they are about the City’s proactive drive to maintain a world-class transport network and ultimately keep Cape Town moving,” he said.

The resurfacing work will be carried out on Beach Road, in Mouille Point; Constitution Street and Keizergracht Road, in District Six; Chester, Worcester, Upper Melbourne, and Mountain Roads, in Woodstock; Lower Main Road, in Observatory; and Gunners Circle, in Epping Industrial.

Upon completion of the resurfacing, all road markings will be reinstated using retroreflective road marking paint for improved visibility and safety.

The City has advised that residents and business owners in the affected areas may experience some noise disruption during the duration of the works.

The municipality thanks all residents and road users for their patience and cooperation while these vital roadworks are underway.
