The community of Capricorn in Muizenberg has been stunned by the shocking case of a four-year-old toddler who was allegedly raped by an underage minor.

According to the Muizenberg Community Policing Forum Media Liaison Officer, Wayne Turner, the matter is before the court.

He said that he cannot disclose the age of the alleged perpetrator or any further information because two minors are involved.

Turner explained: “The South African Police Service (SAPS) Muizenberg Station Commander, together with the Muizenberg Community Policing Forum (CPF), expresses deep concern and strong condemnation following the alleged rape of a four-year-old child in the Capricorn area within the Muizenberg policing precinct.

“The victim is receiving the necessary medical care and support services.

“A minor suspect has been arrested, and the matter is currently before the court. The investigation is being conducted by the SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

“Due to the sensitive nature of the case and the involvement of minors, no further information can be released at this stage.

“Parents and caregivers are urged to remain vigilant regarding the safety and supervision of children and to report any suspected abuse immediately to the nearest police station.”

This is the second rape incident in a short period of time in the same community after an 18-year-old was arrested for allegedly raping a three-year-old girl last month.
