Cape Town motorists are being urged to plan ahead of a busy weekend that will see major crowds attending a rugby fixture and a large-scale music festival.

According to the City of Cape Town, road closures and traffic congestion are expected around the DHL Stadium precinct on Saturday, April 25, when the DHL Stormers host Glasgow Warriors in their final regular-season home match of the United Rugby Championship.

Kick-off is scheduled for 1:45pm, with gates opening at 11:45am.

The City said a free MyCiTi shuttle service will be available to match ticket holders from the Civic Centre and Thibault Square stations to the stadium. The service is set to begin at 11:15am, with the last bus departing the Green Point precinct at 6:10pm.

City-managed parking areas will open from 10:45am and will be accessible via Hertzog Boulevard incoming and Civic Road, operating on a first-come, first-served basis. These facilities are expected to close at 8pm.

Residents and motorists have been advised to expect disruptions in the Green Point area, with Fritz Sonnenberg Road, Stephan Way, Vlei Road and Granger Bay Boulevard affected from 6am until after the match.

Separately, organisers of Ultra South Africa have confirmed that the event will take place on Sunday, April 26, at the Ostrich venue in Philadelphia.

Gates open at 2pm, with organisers advising attendees to arrive before peak traffic hours between 5pm and 8pm.

Traffic impacts are expected on the N7, where a lane closure will be in place near the Van Schoorsdrift Road intersection, as well as along Van Schoorsdrift Road and Old Malmesbury Road.

Parking at the venue will be available at a cost of R50 per vehicle.

Authorities have advised eventgoers to allow for additional travel time and to consider public transport options where possible.
