Police investigate triple murder in Gugulethu

Western Cape police are searching for suspects following a triple murder in Gugulethu on Monday night. 

The shooting took place at approximately 8.22pm. 

Three people, including a woman, were gunned down and sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

The provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Andrè Traut, said the shooting took place at a residence in Nontulo Street in New Cross. 

“SAPS members responded to a complaint at Nontulo Street, New Cross, where they discovered the bodies of two victims, a male and a female, inside a residence. Both sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and upper body. A third male victim was found outside the premises with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. The deceased males are aged 33 and 46,” Traut said. 

At this stage, the police do not know the motive for the attack but said it now forms part of the ongoing investigation. 

The matter has been handed over to the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit for investigation. 

“Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit detectives have been assigned to the case and will pursue all available leads with urgency and diligence to ensure that those responsible are brought to book,” Traut said.
