A 50-year-old man is facing charges of possession and dealing in drugs, following his arrest at his home in Rooi Els Street, Bonteheuwel, where police found cash, two bags of dagga, tik and mandrax tablets.

Police spokesperson, Ndakhe Gwala, said members of Public Order Police were patrolling around the area on Sunday when they received intelligence about drug sales at the suspect’s home.

They descended at the address at around 3:15pm, and combed the area.

"The members found one bag of dagga in his bedroom and proceeded to his motor vehicle that was parked in the yard.

"A second bag of dagga, tik, mandrax tablets and cash amounting to R11 507 were recovered inside the vehicle.

"The suspect was arrested for possession of drugs and dealing in drugs.

"He will make his first court appearance in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court once he has been charged," Gwala said.

The arrest follows a bust by members of Operation Lockdown III Friday in Hilda Crescent, Valhalla Park, where they found 40 small packets containing crystal meth, 11 mandrax tablets, an imitation firearm hidden in a cupboard draw in the kitchen.

They arrested a 23-year-old suspect for the possession of drugs and the possession of an imitation firearm.

Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg said in Belhar, they also arrested two males age 42 and 44 when they found tik, mandrax, ecstasy, cocaine and a undisclosed amount of cash in the house.

Once charged, the suspects will appear in their respective courts.
