Table View police are investigating an attempted murder case following a shooting incident on Friday afternoon, which police confirmed in response to a viral video showing a violent confrontation in nearby Parklands.

SAPS spokesperson, Wesley Twigg said an adult male was shot and wounded in Morningford Road at about 5pm.

“An adult male was shot and wounded. According to reports, the victim intervened in an altercation between foreign national males when he was shot. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and arrests are yet to be made,” Twigg said.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

A video circulating widely on social media shows a violent confrontation involving a group of men in Parklands. The footage shows individuals chasing and attacking each other in a public space, with people scattering as the situation escalates. The incident appears to unfold in a residential area, drawing attention from bystanders.

Police provided details of the Table View shooting in direct response to enquiries about the video, indicating that the incident forms part of the same case under investigation.

It remains unclear whether there were additional injuries or related incidents connected to the confrontation seen in the footage. Authorities have been asked to clarify further details, including the full sequence of events and whether more suspects are being sought.

The video has been widely shared online, raising concern among residents about safety in the area and prompting calls for clarity from law enforcement.

Parklands, one of Cape Town’s fastest-growing suburbs along the West Coast corridor, has in recent years experienced incidents of violent crime and public altercations.

In March 2025, a foreign national was shot dead in a parking area on Sandown Road in what police described at the time as a suspected hit. In that case, gunmen opened fire before fleeing the scene, and no immediate arrests were made.

For now, police investigations into the shooting and the confrontation captured on video are ongoing.
