A Pelican Park family is in distress following the mysterious disappearance of their grandmother, Maureen Peskin, who has been missing for two weeks. The 73-year-old vanished while walking home from a visit to a cousin's house, leaving her loved ones desperate for answers and fearing for her safety.

Her son Edward Williams told the Cape Argus sister publication, Daily Voice that his ma Maureen Peskin, 73, was last seen on March 25,  2026 after visiting their cousin, who lives near their home in Pelican Park.

He explained: “I last saw her on the day that she went missing, which was before she went to my cousin's house. She always goes to sit there and drink coffee, and then after that she walks home.

“Someone said that she was seen in Constantia, and another person said they saw her near Wetton.”

Williams said that his mother suffers from Alzheimer's, but that this is the first time that she has gone missing.

He added: “She still remembers her name, surname, and where she lives. It’s not like she’s totally confused.

“The people in our area also know that she has the illness, as they call her Auntie Maur.

“She also still walks around to the shop to go buy chips, but she keeps mostly to herself.”

Peskin was last seen wearing a floral jersey, navy blue track pants, and slippers. The family said they searched all over, including Pelican Park, Phumlani Village and Grassy Park.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said: “She was last seen on March 25, 2026, when she left her relative's home to return to her residence in Pelican Park and has not been seen since.

“The investigating officer is following up all leads in a bid to reunite the missing person with her family.”

Anyone with any information who can assist with the investigation or who knows the whereabouts of the missing person is kindly requested to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Gregory Kleinhans, on 079 894 1307 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
