In a now-viral clip, shoppers at a Cape Town cannabis store are seen executing a distraction tactic to steal edibles.

A trip to a Cape Town medical cannabis shop turned into theft with a now-viral video showing a group of five people allegedly plotting and successfully slipping out with what appears to be edibles into a bag.
A roughly minute-long clip, widely circulated on social media, captures what looks like a coordinated distraction tactic inside the store.
Three women are seen browsing near a display rack stocked with edibles, while two men are engaging the cashier elsewhere in the shop.
What began as casual browsing soon shifted into something more deliberate.
One of the women is seen picking up a packet from the display and slipping it into a bag with ease.
A second woman joins in moments later, adding another item while glancing around nervously, seemingly unaware of the camera positioned just above them.
As the sequence unfolds, a third woman steps in, also placing items into the bag.
Within seconds, the group appears to have gathered a small stash. The clip ends with all five individuals calmly exiting the store, their movements unhurried and coordinated.
Despite the clarity of the footage, South African Police Service (SAPS) said no case has been opened.
Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg confirmed that authorities are aware of the circulating video.
Twigg said: “Cape Town Central police are aware of the video circulating on social media, however no criminal case was registered for investigation.”
He encouraged the affected persons to visit their nearest police station to formally register a criminal complaint so that an investigation can proceed.
