High-speed chase in Khayelitsha leads to arrest and seizure of 24.5 bags of dagga
Traffic officers arrested a 30-year-old man after a high-speed chase from Khayelitsha to Mfuleni, where 24.5 bags of dagga were found in his vehicle.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested following a high-speed chase that ended in a dagga bust in Khayelitsha on Wednesday morning.
Cape Town traffic officers were conducting a vehicle checkpoint along Spine Road at about 7.55am when they attempted to stop a white Hyundai i20 for failing to display a valid licence disc.
According to traffic spokesperson Kevin Jacobs, the driver ignored the instruction to pull over and sped off, triggering a pursuit.
“The chase continued towards Mfuleni and Driftsands, where the suspect’s vehicle eventually came to a stop after sustaining damage to its front axle and wheel,” Jacobs said.
The driver then fled on foot but was pursued and apprehended by officers a short distance away.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 24.5 bags of dagga.
The suspect was arrested and charged with reckless and negligent driving, as well as possession of a large quantity of dagga. He is being held at Mfuleni police station, where a case has been opened.
The City of Cape Town commended the officers involved for their swift response and professionalism in bringing the suspect into custody.
