Four months after a tragic shooting claimed the lives of three individuals, including a nine-year-old boy, Rocklands, Mitchells Plain has witnessed another brutal attack. On Tuesday, the daughter of alleged former American gang boss Kaldimola “Dimes” Madatt was among three victims killed, with a 15-year-old child also left wounded in the incident.
Kaldimola was gunned down in a hit at his Rocklands home in November 2022. On Tuesday, Sadia Madatt, 39, Abubaker Alexander, 29, and another victim were gunned down when gunmen in balaclavas stormed their Viscount Street residence just before 5 pm. The wounded teen, believed to be Sadia’s daughter, was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. It is understood that residents rushed her to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Cops say gunmen inside a grey vehicle stopped in front of the house and opened fire on the occupants. The motive is believed to be gang-related. Crime fighters previously indicated that Sadia was allegedly climbing the ranks in the gang world for turf, although this has yet to be confirmed by authorities.
The shooting follows the horrific December 2025 murders of nine-year-old Zechariah Matthee, his aunt Cleo Bailey, and Mousheen Daniels, with two others wounded in Rocklands on Viscount Street, adjacent to the current murder scene.
Zechariah, a learner at Caradale Primary School, was killed alongside his aunt and Mousheen when four gunmen stormed the house and wendy house while he tried to hide in a cupboard. Police have yet to make an arrest, and gang rivalry is believed to be a factor in the shootings.
Police spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut explained what transpired: “SAPS in the Western Cape has launched a murder and attempted murder investigation following a fatal shooting incident in Rocklands, Mitchells Plain, on Tuesday afternoon, March 10.
Police have launched manhunt after Gunmen opened fire in a targeted attack, killing three people, including nine-year-old Zechariah Matthee, who was tragically hiding in a cupboard during the chaos.

"At approximately 4:50 pm, police responded to a complaint at a residence in Viscount Street where three people were shot and fatally wounded. The deceased have been identified as a 39-year-old woman, a 29-year-old man, and a 36-year-old man. A 15-year-old girl who was also shot during the incident sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
"Preliminary reports indicate that an unknown grey vehicle stopped in front of the residence. Three unidentified males, whose faces were concealed with balaclavas, allegedly entered the house and opened fire on the occupants before fleeing the scene.
"Crime scene experts recovered several spent cartridges and other exhibits which will form part of the ongoing investigation. The motive for the attack is believed to be gang-related; however, this forms part of the investigation. Anti-Gang Unit detectives have taken over the investigation, and no arrests have been made at this stage.”
Traut added that anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or submit information anonymously via the MySAPS mobile application. All information received will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
Michael Jacobs of the Mitchells Plain United Residents Association (MURA) said in response to the latest shooting in Viscount, which has become notorious for mass gang shootings: “As the Mitchells Plain United Residents Association, we condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the ongoing, senseless, and cowardly gang violence and killings that continue to plague the communities.
"These acts of targeted and indiscriminate killings, to settle territorial disputes over drug turf, are unacceptable. We call on the South African Police Service to hunt down these heartless killers and bring them to justice, ” Jacobs said.
