Police have confirmed that a body of an individual who did not have a criminal record but a medical history, has been found inside the Western Cape High Court this morning.
It is speculated that the person is believed to be a staff member, although this has not been officially confirmed.
The premises were closed this morning to allow police to conduct an analysis of the scene. Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg explained that the individual was not an accused person attending court matters and had a history of illness.
“In response to your media inquiry, kindly be advised that Cape Town Central police attended to a complaint at the High Court where a person passed away; however, no criminal record was registered for investigation as the individual had a medical history,” he stated.
Authorities do not suspect foul play in this incident. Cape Argus reached out to the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, which redirected queries. It has yet to be revealed whether the individual was male or female, or where exactly inside the building the body was found.
