“Metro Police officers arrested three suspects this morning for possession of a hijacked vehicle and illegal firearms,” explained Solomons. Officers on patrol in Khayelitsha were alerted to a vehicle hijacking in Kraaifontein.
“With the assistance of the tracking company, they were able to locate the vehicle and force the driver to a stop at 8th Avenue and Brighton Road. One of the occupants attempted to flee, but he was quickly apprehended.

Solomons confirmed that the three suspects, aged 22, 24, and 41, were arrested and detained at Kraaifontein SAPS.
In a separate but significant arrest, the South African National Parks (SANParks) apprehended two suspects for vehicle tampering at Cape Point. This arrest took place on Friday, March 6, after the suspects were allegedly caught attempting to open vehicles in the Cape Point parking area, located within the Southern Section of Table Mountain National Park (TMNP).
JP Louw, SANParks Head of Communications and Spokesperson, stated that the rangers responded swiftly to reports of suspicious activity in the area. “Upon arrival, the suspects attempted to flee the scene in a grey BMW hatchback. SANParks Rangers immediately initiated a pursuit and successfully intercepted the vehicle at the Olifantsbos parking area,” he explained.
“A search of the suspects and their vehicle revealed a remote-jamming device, which is believed to have been used to interfere with visitors’ vehicle locking systems. The two individuals were subsequently handed over to the Simon's Town South African Police Service (SAPS) for arrest and further processing.”
