Two men were shot dead in separate suspected gang-related attacks in Tafelsig and Kuils River on Sunday, as gun violence once again rocked communities on the Cape Flats.

A 35-year-old was gunned down in an open field on Keerom Street in Tafelsig, Mitchells.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said: “Mitchells Plain police responded to a complaint of a shooting on Sunday evening, March 8, at about 7pm, on an open field in Keerom Street, Tafelsig, and upon arrival on the scene, they found the body of a 35-year-old male who sustained gunshot wounds to his head.

“The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. According to reports, the victim was walking in the street when he was approached by unknown suspects who shot him before fleeing the scene.

“The motive for the attack is believed to be gang-related.”

According to sources, it is alleged that the shooting incident was due to an infighting between the Hard Livings.

It is also alleged that the deceased, known as Troubles, was an e-hailing robber.

The source said: “On Friday evening, his girlfriend allegedly went to the turf of the HLs to get drugs so that they can sell it on their side where they live, but the girlfriend hasn’t returned home yet up until now.

“It’s alleged that two HLs went to fetch Troubles and shot him.”
