Police appeal for help in tracking down fraud suspect Mogammad Saleegh Abrahams

The Table Bay Harbour Police have launched an urgent appeal to the public for assistance in locating a suspect who is wanted in connection with a fraud case that unfolded at the V&A Waterfront shopping mall.

The suspect, identified as Mogammad Saleegh Abrahams, is accused of defrauding a complainant out of a cellphone and laptop on November 11, 2022.

Now 34 years old, Abrahams has not only evaded authorities since his last court appearance in February 2025 but has also failed to appear at subsequent hearings, prompting the court to issue a warrant for his arrest.

As police ramp up their efforts to locate the suspect, they are calling on anyone who may have information regarding his whereabouts to come forward.

Police spokesperson, Thembakazi Mpendukana explained: "This follows an incident that happened on November 11 2022, whereby the now 34-year-old male suspect defrauded the complainant out of a cellphone and laptop at V&A Waterfront shopping mall.

"The suspect made his last court appearance in February 2025 and did not show up for his other court appearances.

"A warrant of arrest was issued by the court.

"Anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation or who knows the whereabouts of Mogammad Saleegh Abrahams is kindly requested to contact the investigating officer Warrant Officer Hybre Abrahams on 082 522 2572, or Crime Stop on 08600 10111."
