A Valhalla Park family is grappling with unimaginable grief after a tragic late-night shooting left a mother and her son dead, along with another victim.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday evening at the corner of Paulus and Hester Street, has sent shockwaves through the community.
Bishop Lavis Community Policing Forum Chairperson Amanda Davids expressed her outrage, stating that it is heartbreaking for any family to lose loved ones in such a violent manner.
Davids said: “The Bishop Lavis CPF want to condemn this senseless act of violence in the strongest terms. To the families we extend our sincere condolences. For a family to lose a mother and son in such a brutal way is unimaginable.
“These mass killings are very worrying because the majority of victims are youth and so are the perpetrators.”
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed the shooting, in which a 41-year-old female and a 32-year-old male were fatally wounded.
He added that the 18-year-old male (the woman's son) sustained gunshot wounds to his head and face had been transported to a medical facility for treatment, but passed away on Sunday morning.
Twigg said: “The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and no arrests have been made yet. Bishop Lavis detectives will now investigate three counts of murder.”
